History

Three years after the City of Huntington Beach was incorporated in 1909, Triangle Park, a 1.11 acre neighborhood park, was established. The park was rebuilt from 1924-1925 and Canary Island palm palms were planted, which still survive today.

Before it was formally deeded to the city, Triangle Park was used as a recreation place. The Park was home to a baseball field (1912–early 1930s), an oil workers’ tent city (1921–1923), croquet and tennis courts (approximately 1928–1930s), a putting green (1927–roughly 1950), and horseshoe pits (circa 1931).

The Huntington Beach Company formally deeded land blocks #405 and #505 to the City in 1917, stipulating that the area would be used for public parks.
