International Surfing Museum is a 501(c) non-profit museum situated in the City of Huntington Beach, CA. The museum’s mission is to conserve the heritage of surfing culture worldwide. It is devoted to Duke Kahanamoku, who is widely credited with popularizing surfing as a modern sport.

The International Surfing Museum exhibits vintage surfboards, educates visitors about renowned riders, and screens vintage surf videos. Visitors can view artistic sculptures of surfers and listen to surf music. The museum’s admission fee is presently $2 for each visitor.

In June 1990, the museum relocated to 411 Olive Avenue and opened. Ann Beasley and Natalie Kotsch founded it in 1987. Ann Beasley and Natalie Kotsch were inducted into the Honor Roll in 1998. It was established to recognize people who have made significant contributions to surfing and its culture and are worthy of acknowledgment but do not meet the criteria for a stone on the Surfers’ Walk of Fame. The Surfers’ Walk of Fame’s Board of Directors selects Honor Roll winners. (Source: Wikipedia)

History

A woman who has never surfed established the Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum many decades earlier. Indeed, Natalie Kotsch hails from a region of Canada devoid of surfing. She realized the great beach mood and hospitable culture that made her feel at home in Huntington Coastal, and she became ensnared in a fever that afflicts many who reside in beach communities worldwide. Several of the famous surfboards and pieces of local history will be preserved as a result of her work in a massive, compiled collection that circulates throughout the museum. Locals and tourists alike can pay a nominal admission price to this surfing museum. Surfers from all over the world flock to the museum to share stories and learn where some of their favorite local surfers are currently surfing. (Source: huntingtonbeachsurfingmuseum.org)
